In Arabic the name Bahrain is translated to “Two Seas.” Bahrain is all about the water that laps the shore. With beautiful azure waters and soft white sand it is the ideal vacation for those looking to explore new beaches. Also to explore are the spring waters with sweet bubbling water off the coast which are the creators of radiant pearls which helped to build the fortunes of the island in its early years.
Manama is one city on this island nation that knows how to live to the hilt. Its name when translated means “Sleeping Place” but visitors don’t do much snoozing when they are in this exciting city. You can shop late into the evening or if you are ready to party, get moving in the lively nightclubs and bars. The city becomes crowded on the weekend as citizens are ready to do some off duty drinking and enjoy a bit of fine dining. In Manama you can explore the Bahrain National Museum which early birds will find that there isn’t a long queue to get inside as the rest of the city sleeps.
Other sights around Bahrain are the Formula One Racetrack where visitors can get a taste of what it’s like to live in the fast lane. Take a tour behind the scenes at this racetrack made for the 21st century. Qala’al Bahrain will afford you magnificent views from Bahrain Fort’s battlements which were given by the Portuguese.
It is best to avoid Bahrain from the beginning of June to the middle of September. The heat is intense and even the cold water tap runs hot water. If you don’t mind heat and humidity, then by all means visit Bahrain during this time where tourists will be few and far between. November through March are the usual times to visit but be sure to avoid the holidays of Eid and Ramadan as Saudi Arabians flock to the city and make it difficult to find lodging.
